How do I access the estimates screen on

    1. Click on ¨Projects¨
    2. Click on ¨Estimates¨
    3. Select the project double clicking on the column left of the project name
    4. Select the estimate double clicking on the column left of the estimate name  

What is the estimates screen for?

    Through the estimates screen, BrickControl allows you to quickly create and work on all estimates. The most important features include the ability to import files using FIEBDC (BC3) format, use multiple price databases, copy chapters, work units, etc from a database or from another estimate. Also, it keeps history of estimates created for a particular client, automatic calculation of revenue by comparing sales price to cost, printing using templates, and other features that make controlling the estimates easier.

Get to know how the estimates work



   First of all, from the estimates screen you  can view the name of all projects currently in BrickControl, which company will carry on with the project, which estimate and what currency has been defined for cost control, and which estimate and currency will be used for invoicing the client.

   Double Clicking on the column left of the project name, you can define how many decimals will be used in quantities and prices to calculate total costs and sales price. Double clicking on the same column again will take you to the chapters that make up the estimate.

   An estimate must have cost prices and sales prices. Cost prices will be used for project analysis and tracking, and will help us to take corrective action if any deviation is detected. The sales price is necessary to issue certifications and invoice the client.

   Once the project is awarded to us and its execution is planned out and underway, inputting costs through timesheets and invoices, indicating project progress will let us obtain detailed information on the project´s evolution and profitability through Cost Analysis.

following these steps, you can access and navigate through all the data within the sample project in the database supplied in the trial version



   1. Click on ¨Projects¨


   2. Click on ¨Estimates¨

   On the displayed screen, you can see, a list of all projects added in BrickControl to date.

   3. Double click on the column to the left of sample estimate´s name.

   On this screen you can view different numbers of estimates (this acts as a history log) related to the project. Please observe that even if there are many estimates, only one estimate can be marked for cost control and only one can be defined as sale. In this case the estimate described as "PROJECT".

   4. Double click on the corner left of the name ¨Project¨

   You can view the chapters that compose the estimate.
   It is important to note that, besides the icons on the second column that indicate on which level you are currently on, works with different colors, to identify the type of file you are currently viewing (Grey - Chapters). You can also see that the line you have selected currently is highlighted, this is done to make you aware of where you are positioned. If you wish to modify a field, you must first select it, and then, by hitting ¨Enter¨ or double clicking on it, you can edit it. Once the filed is edited, you can either use Tab to move to the next field, or use the mouse. Once all the fields you wish to modify are ready, click on ¨save¨ to save the current changes.
   To create a new chapter or to delete an existing one, right click on the screen, and select what you wish to do on the pop-up menu (this applies to all screens within BrickControl)


   5. Double click on the column left of Chapter 004

   Here you can view the work units that make up this chapter, you will also see that this level is identified by the color Pink.

   For example, if we stand on the third line and select ¨view details¨ (located on the upper right hand side of the screen), 2 new windows will open, one contains measurement lines belonging to the project and the second is used to expand or add details of the work unit.


   To hide these windows, all you must do is click ¨view details¨ windows again.


   6. Double click on the column to the left of the third line.

   A window with the current work unit´s composition will appear, displaying the unitaries. These unitaries are identified by the color green. On the second column, an icon will indicate the unitary´s type (labor, machinery, materials or general expenses). On this example there are only unitary prices.

   The work unit price is calculated automatically depending on income and the prices on the column ¨Cost price¨, although it is also possible to manually input the desired prices. The prices added manually are changed to the color red for easy recognition. 

   7. You can also see that on the upper part of the screen there is a navigation bar that allows us to see what part of the estimate we are seeing, and lets us go back to any of the previous points without having to navigate through the entire estimate.


  Import an estimate to BrickControl
   Estimates can be created directly in BrickControl, or be imported in FIEBDC (BC3) format. Besides, through the following lynk we will take your suggestions in order to develop other formats that are usually used, so that you can import them to Brickcontrol.


  To create an estimate, you can start by adding the different levels that will make up the estimate (Chapters, work units, unitaries) in 3 different ways:
   - Creating them manually Clicking the right mouse button and selecting ¨New¨ and filling in the fields displayed.
   - Searching on price databases and existing projects, clicking the right button of the mouse, selecting ¨New¨ and clicking on the search button on the ¨Code¨column.  
   - Copying, Positioning on the column next to the code we wish to copy, clicking the right button of the mouse and selecting ¨Copy¨to later ¨Paste¨ where needed. Note that it is very useful to split the screen, clicking on the ¨Estimates¨ tab and dragging it in the screen like shown below: 

   Save many estimates from the same project  

   In BrickControl a project can have as many estimates as needed. If the initial estimate has been modified, in BrickControl it is  possible to keep history of all estimates, so there is no need to modify them and lose information. It is possible to use the first presented estimate as a base, and if this first estimate is modified, through the ¨Offer-Study¨ option, you can make modifications, without having to change the original, until an agreement is reached over the estimate with the client.     

   Generate a sales estimate

   BrickControl offers you the possibility of calculating the sales estimate, using the cost from the original estimate.
   This calculation can be done at any level ( on the current level and the following levels or the whole estimate). For example if you need to create a sales estimate using different project percentages, you can adjust to the current level.
 This calculation can be done by:
   - Percentage, adding a percentage over the cost price to calculate sales price.
   - Total sales price, indicating the total cost of the estimate, without vat
   - Total benefit, detailing the total benefit that will be added to the estimate cost. 

   Final sheet

Through the final sheet, which you can access clicking on the start button, you can adjust, if necessary, and at least with the according VAT, the estimates total, like shown below:

   To print an estimate, all you have to do is click on the print button and select a template:

How do I create a new estimate?

     1. Click on ¨Projects¨
     2. Click on ¨Estimates¨
     3. Double click on the column left of the project description to which we want to assign the estimate to.
     4. Double click on the column left of the estimate ¨Project¨
     5. Right click and select ¨New chapter¨, fill in the description and click on ¨Save¨
     6. Double click on the column left of the chapter description.
     7. Right click and select ¨New work unit¨, type in the code, the measurement unit, the number of units, and the description.
     8. Double click on the column left of the work unit description
     9. Right click and select ¨New unitary¨, indicate if it is labor, machinery, materials or general expenses and complete the code, units, description and cost price.
     10 Use the navigation bar  to go back to the chapter level after completing as many chapters, work units and unitaries as needed.
     11. Click on options  > Adjust sales price > Adjustto entire estimate
     12. Indicate the percentage over the sales price and click on accept
     13. Click on final sheet  , Indicate the tax type, click on save  and close the window
     14. Click on print  , Select the template and click on print.

     How do I import an estimate? 

  1. Click on ¨Projects¨
  2. Click on ¨Estimates¨
  3. Double click on the project we wish to use
  4. Click on ¨Import¨
  5. Indicate the number of decimals for the quantities and prices in the estimate.
  6. Click on ¨Search¨ and select the FIEBDC (BC3) file you wish to import
  7. Click on ¨Save¨

How do I modify an estimate?

  1. Click on ¨Projects¨
  2. Click on ¨Estimates¨
  3. Double click on the project we wish to use
  4. Double click on the estimate we wish to use
  5. Select the line you wish to modify
  6. Select the field you wish to modify and make the changes
  7. Click on ¨Save¨ 

How do  get a sales estimate automatically?

  1. Click on ¨Projects¨
  2. Click on ¨Estimates¨
  3. Double click on the project we wish to use
  4. Double click on the estimate we wish to use
  5. On the estiamte, click on ¨options, ¨Adjust to entire estimate¨
  6. Select how to adjust the estimate:
    1. Percentage over cost price (Indicate %)
    2. Total sales cost (Indicate total sales cost)
    3. Total benefit (Indicate the total benefit)
  7. Clcik on ¨Save¨

How do I add taxes to the estimate?

  1. Click on ¨Projects¨
  2. Click on ¨Estimates¨
  3. Double click on the project we wish to use
  4. Double click on the estimate we wish to use
  5. Click on final sheet (Button with a star) 
  6. Add the taxes needed
  7. Click on ¨Save¨

Where can I use the estimates?

The estiamtes will be used in cost allocation, on cost analysis reports and resource calculation, as well as measurements as sales invoices.
